Blank cassette tapes are an art form of sorts
Blank cassette tapes are an art form of sorts. They have been used for decades to compile long lists of songs to capture moments of time. Some people gave them as tokens of their affections; others gave them as ways to pass on new music to their friends. These could also continue around in other circles and pass from friend to friend as music tastes continue on.
I would listen to the radio for hours to hear my favorite song. This was back in the days before mp3’s. I would capture those moments on blank cassette tapes, if I was really lucky. However, those tapes weren’t perfect and there were a lot of hits and misses; I would often record the DJ’s small talk and commercials while trying to create the perfect mix tape.
If you’re feeling particularly artistic, you can even dress up the blank cassette labels with markers, stickers, pen or pencil. Music is not just about the notes or words of a song, after all; the presentation is at least equally important. Creative names and designs increase one’s appreciation for the music and even one’s understanding of the music.
As technology has improved, new ways of recording have evolved. Blank cassette tapes have made way for CDs and DVDs. There also is a whole new system of digital audio tape to improve recording. And also with the invention of mp3s, recording mixes got even easier. Now you could download any song from the internet and burn it to a CD. And you could even print a CD label when you are done!
Many people would like to have good old blank cassette tapes for recording. Some people prefer to sign up for online communities and swap their own cassette mixes with others, which enables them to expand their music knowledge. These people have a lot of fun and get exposed to different music as they go all over the country and the world.
No matter where technology takes us, we will always remember the blank cassette tape and the mark it made on out society. It transformed us all into music mixers and let our creativity flow. And we have carried this on into our mp3 and CD burning world. Nothing is quite as fun as that classic mix tape!
Blank cassette tapes can be artistic. For years they were used to record special moments and compilations of songs. They were given as gifts and used to share music with friends. Blank cassette labels were artistically decorated and given a name to describe the music it contained. Now we have DVDs and CDs which provide better recording quality. There are also digital audio tapes for better quality, and mp3s which enable you to find and download songs from the Internet onto a CD. Online groups exist for buyers, sellers, and traders. But we will remember the blank cassette tape forever as it let our creativity flow.
